I almost choked today because I had to work on some code written by somebody else that used 1-based even though I really needed 0-based. I had to do a whole bunch of <code>currentValue - 1</code>s to get it to work.

Hehe; well, I knew ArrayList was zero based and array-types are, but Collection is still one-based for legacy reasons. I actually have to ... wait, this is important enough *turns on caps key* ... I ACTUALLY HAVE TO EDIT ONE-BASED CODE STILL IN A PROJECT WRITTEN IN VB.NET *turns off caps key*. The... craziness.... can't........... take it..............................

Ah, but you forget that VB.NET is 0 based. Actually, I consider myself a C# programmer these days anyway - and I based that on the choice of language for anything I do outside of work.

Wait a second -- you're a VB programmer and you're starting your list with 0? You must have converted to ArrayList :-)!

Great post, dude! Really inspiring. I haven't been nearly as dilligent in many of these areas, and I'm feeling I probably should do something about it. It's very awesome too that your wife is so supportive...you're a lucky guy!

This is a really cool post. Everybody who has ever worked with you will say the same thing: you're going to take this market by storm. The valley is very thirsty for an excellent programmer, designer, etc. You won't run out of work -- in fact, I predict, you'll have trouble managing /growth/!

Go get em!

I am really proud of you. I think you have done an amazing job as "President." Just make sure you don't try any of your CEO junk at home. :-)

To the wives supporting your entrepenurial beau... Heap on a ton of love and respect for your man. Men are hardwired to provide for their families. Starting your own company can produce a lot of anxiety. Make sure your husband knows he is valued for who he is and is not defined by his venture.

Then, he can support you in a manner to which you would like to become accustomed. :-)
