A “Michael Bolton Office Space” moment
If you haven’t seen Office Space, this post will be irrelevant.

Yesterday I had a Michael Bolton moment.
I was driving The Wife’s Toyota Avalon, a well respected vehicle in the pantheon of old man cars. It was a nice day; I had the sunroof open as i cruised down the highway. I was playing random tracks off Weird Al’s Straight Outta Lynwood. I did my best Jerry McGuire impression by singing along loudly and out of key.
As I pulled up to a red light, I started playing with the stereo controls on the steering wheel. Accidentally, I found the one feature we hadn’t figured out - how to change the CD changer from the steering wheel controls. I held down the track button and it changed cds. Oops. Instead of hitting the back button, I cycled through all 6 discs. Cars pulled up around me by the time I reached the disc again.
That was when it happened. “White and Nerdy” blared from the speakers at full volume. It startled me, actually; I forgot how loud I had it on the highway. A bit embarrassed, I looked around to see if anyone had seen me jump. To my right, two black gentlemen were definitely looking at me. Nothing like a white guy in an old man car pumping out the beats.
I mashed at the controls - as quickly as I could - to turn it down. I shrunk into my seat hoping not to get capped. Thankfully the light changed and I escaped their glare.
