CSS Reboot – Old School is the new New School

Welcome CSS Reboot visitors. For those who know me and have followed my blog over the years, the new design should look very familiar. In 2000, when I registered the uhri.com domain name and put up the original site, I used a scheme very familiar to this. As I thought about the reboot, I happened upon an archived version of my site. Looking at it again, I realized I still liked it.

So here we are with the new scheme. Rememeber, taste is in the tongue of the beholder.

Remaining tasks

There are still a number of things I need to wrap up with the layout. The first issue, is to clean up the CSS. It doesn’t render right in IE. Firefox users sees the site as designed since that’s the primary browser I use. Other browsers are an even bigger crapshoot… I haven’t tested anywhere else. Feel free to post a comment on any problems you might see in your browser.

Currently, the site does not render XHTML 1.0 Strict as I’m using target="_blank" to force new windows on outbound links. If I don’t find a reasonable fix to that, I may consider keeping links in the current window. Stay tuned.

Finally, there will be some additional tweaks to the styles. I also anticipate putting a graphic header up instead of the plain text.

For a four day effort, I’m pretty pleased how it turned out. Happy enough that I hope to concentrate more on content for the next month than anything else.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeutiful! I love the complimentary colors blue and orange and how they contrast so well, particularly on a flat-panel dsiplay!
