He’s lost his first tooth, in the middle, on the bottom. It came out during lunch on Monday the 9 h.

When he had first shown it to us, when it was first starting to wiggle, we gave each other that look. The he’s-way-to-young-for-this-but-he-really-isn’t-where-has-the-time-gone look. I told my wife I thought that his driver’s license was the next big thing. I think she almost started crying.

We have a tendency to forget how old — or should I say young — he is. Mostly because he thinks of things we expect from someone much older.

Before putting his tooth beneath his pillow, he asked: How does the tooth fairy know when to get your teeth when she doesn’t even have a clock or a wristband with lights showing the teeth that are missing?

Yeah. Working out the logistics of the tooth fairy. Definitely the work of a 5-year-old.
